چکیده

The concept of breast cancer treatment is changed from maximal tolerable treatment to minimal effective treatment. There has been a change from axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) to sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB). The current theory of breast cancer spreading to the axillary lymph nodes is established that if the metastatic cancer cell has spread to the axillary lymph node. The first node that receives the lymphatic drainage from the tumor is called sentinel lymph node. We can find the sentinel lymph node and examine it that there are cancer cells or not. If there are no cancer cells. It is not necessary to remove the remaining lymph nodes in the axillar. The method to find the sentinel lymph node is to inject isosulfan blue dye or Radio isotope into the breast area and dissect to find the first lymph nodes and send the sentinel node to the pathologist for examination by frozen section method. If there is no metastatic cancer cells in the lymph nodes, the surgeon can omit to do ALND.

Breast Conserving Surgery and Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy under Local Anesthesia for Breast Cancer

Background: Breast conserving surgery and sentinel lymph node biopsy has become the standard operation for early breast cancer. This operation has been performed under local anesthesia for patients that would like short-term admission or for those not indicated for general anesthesia due to complications. This report presents the outcomes of breast conserving surgery and sentinel lymph node bio...

The need for skin pen marking for sentinel lymph node biopsy: A comparative study

Introduction: There is a consensus in the literature that sentinel lymph node biopsy is the standard procedure for axillary staging in early stage (I and II) breast cancer patients. Usually during lymphoscintigraphy, the location of the sentinel lymph node is marked on the skin by an indelible ink. In this study we evaluated this issue in our patients. Methods: 40 ...

Ambulatory sentinel lymph node biopsy preceding neoadjuvant therapy in patients with operable breast cancer: a preliminary study

BACKGROUND Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SNB)-oriented stepwise treatment under local anesthesia has been performed in the outpatient-ambulatory setting in patients receiving neoadjuvant therapy (NAT). We retrospectively reviewed our preliminary experience of ambulatory SNB in breast cancer patients scheduled to undergo NAT to evaluate the usefulness and feasibility of this method as a minimally ...

Feasibility of sentinel lymph node mapping in renal cell carcinoma using intraoperative radiotracer injection

Introduction: The applicability of sentinel lymph node biopsy for early detection of metastasis in patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is still in the validation phase and under investigation, which might be due to the unpredictability of the lymphatic pattern in RCC. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the feasibility and accuracy of sentinel node biopsy in patients with ...

Prediction Axillary Lymph Node Involvement Status on Breast Cancer Data

Introduction: one of the foremost usual methods for evaluating breast cancer is the removal of axillary lymph nodes (ALN) which include complications such as edema, limited hand movements, and lymph accumulation. Although studies have shown that the sentinel gland condition represents the axillary nodules context in the mammary gland, the efficacy, and safety of the guard node biopsy need to be...
